The Indian Premier League (IPL) is an annual professional T20 league. Founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it is contested by 10 teams based out of as many Indian cities.

Up until now, there have been 14 editions of the tournament since 2008, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) being the current title-holders, winning the 2021 season. The next edition will tentatively be played from March 27 – May 21, 2022.

Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) veteran batter Chris Gayle leads the pack here with 357 sixes in 142 matches.

With 50 half-centuries in 150 matches, David Warner from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is the topper on this list.

The Jamaican steals the show once more. With 175 n.o. vs Pune Warriors in 2013, Chris Gayle has the IPL's highest individual score to his name.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Andre Russell has a strike rate of 178.57 across 84 matches. Following him is fellow teammate, Sunil Narine, with a strike rate of 161.69.

IPL Stats: Bowling

  • Most Wickets (PURPLE CAP)

Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga has picked up 170 wickets in 122 matches, making him the IPL stats leader in the most wickets department.

  • Most Maidens

Praveen Kumar (14) and Irfan Pathan (10) have bowled the maximum maidens in the IPL, but both of them have since retired from all forms of cricket. From the current crop of active cricketers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar from SRH has bowled the most number of maidens (9).

  • Best Average

Lungi Ngidi is the pick of the bowlers in this IPL stat department. With a bowling average of 17.92, the CSK fast bowler tops the list. Teammate Doug Bollinger (18.72) is at number two.

Who else but talismanic Afghan Rashid Khan! The wily right-arm leg break from SRH has an economy rate of 6.33 – the best for this particular piece of IPL stat.
