IPL Player Stats

The 2024 Indian Premier League was the 17th edition of the star-studded tournament, scheduled from March 22 to May 26. And like every year, we were treated to sheer brilliance this time across all departments of the game; we got to see some great batting display, excellent bowling, and lightning-fast catches and run-outs. All in all, as cricket fans, we could not have asked for more.

The table above gives you a preview of all the IPL team stats and player records, and here's a snapshot of what went down in the tournament

IPL Batting Stats

  • Most Runs (Orange Cap)

Who else but King Kohli? The former RCB captain has amassed an astounding 741 runs, including one century and five half-centuries, in the 15 matches he's played in the tournament. These runs have come at a mind-numbing T20 average of 61.75. Unfortunately, RCB is out of the tournament as of the day of writing, so Virat will not be able to add more to his tally of runs.

  • Most Fifties

Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar (RCB) and Sanju Samson (RR) are the joint-highest batters with the most fifties (5) to their names. While RCB is out of the tournament, RR is still in the fray, which means Samson will get a chance to pip Patidar to the post and take pole position for this IPL player stat.

  • Most Centuries

As of the day of writing, Jos Buttler of the Rajasthan Royals has the most centuries (2) to his name in the tournament so far. That said, the Englishman has already left the tournament owing to national duty, so there's an unlikely possibility that his record won't stay after the 2024 IPL is over. However, realistically speaking, there's very little chance of anybody surpassing the RR batter.

  • Highest Scores

Marcus Stoinis of the Lucknow Super Giants is in pole position for this IPL stat. He remained unbeaten on 124 off 63 balls against CSK in the two teams' group-stage fixture on April 23 at the Chepauk.

IPL Bowling Stats

  • Most Wickets (Purple Cap)

Here, we have Harshal Patel from the Punjab Kings in pole position. In the 14 games he played in the tournament, Harshal took 24 wickets at a fantastic bowling strike rate of 12.25 (which means one wicket in every 12 deliveries). Unfortunately for him, PBKS is out of the tournament, which means Harshal's tally will remain at 24. That said, it's unlikely anybody from the other franchises will surpass him for the most wickets.

  • Most Dot Balls

With 149 dot balls, Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians leads this IPL bowling stat. Importantly, in the 13 matches he played in the tournament before his team crashed out, the speedster's economy was 6.48, which is super in the shortest format, especially when other bowlers have been regularly taken to the cleaners.

  • Best Economy

The Punjab Kings' Nathan Ellis leads this IPL player stat with an economy rate of only 6.00. However, it must be noted that Ellis featured in just one game in the 2024 season, bowling only four overs. On the other hand, we have Jasprit Bumrah in second place with an economy of 6.48, having played 13 games throughout the tournament and bowled 51.5 overs.

  • Best Bowling Figures

Sandeep Sharma of the Rajasthan Royals leads this IPL stat. His bowling figures read 5/18 (4) against the Mumbai Indians in the two teams' group-stage game on April 22 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Needless to say, Sharma was awarded the Man of the Match for his spell, and Rajasthan won that match comfortably.
