CSK vs GT Betting Tips

CSK vs GT Betting Prediction

We’re backing Gujarat Titans to win the match @1.72

  • Gujarat Titans qualified first for the playoffs, while Chennai Super Kings, in ninth place, are out of contention.
  • This is a huge turnaround considering that CSK came into this tournament as defending champions while few gave GT much hope of qualification following heavy criticism of their auction picks.
  • We imagine the Gujarat Titans will come into this match more motivated than their opponents, considering they will want to finish within the top two before the eliminators kick in.
CBA Verdict

While CSK haven’t been quite the disaster the standings would suggest, all the IPL stats and performances suggest that Gujarat has the edge here. They’ve performed more consistently, have great motivation, and a strong sense of strategic direction under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. It’s not a sure thing by any means, but we’re backing Gujarat Titans to emerge victorious here.

CSK vs GT Team News

Chennai Super Kings

  • In their most recent game, CSK lost to Mumbai Indians by five wickets, crashing out of the contention for the playoffs, only for the second time since 2008.
  • There’s a bit of a discomfort in the CSK camp surrounding former skipper Ravindra Jadeja. He’s been out with a rib injury, and there are rumours of him breaking away from the franchise due to ongoing tension.
  • Dwayne Bravo returned to action against Delhi Capitals following an injury which ruled him out for two games. Despite failing to set the world on fire against DC or MI, he is considered one of their top bowlers and seems very likely to make the final cut for this game.

CSK Retained: Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings Probable Playing XI

MS Dhoni (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Jordan, Simarjeet Singh, Mukesh Choudhary

Gujarat Titans

  • Gujarat Titans made a comeback following two losses (to Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings) to beat number two-ranked Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs and ascend to the top of the league. They are the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
  • In that game, Rashid Khan retruned figures of 3.5-24-4 (he was also their top bowler against the Mumbai Indians), and there was able support from Sai Kishore (2/7) and Yash Dayal (2/24).
  • Shubman Gill was Man of the Match for his 63* (49). Even in their losing effort against MI< Gill had scored 52 off 36.
  • We expect few strategic changes, considering there‘s no injury news and given their recent success.

GT Retained: Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill

Gujarat Titans Probable Playing XI

Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson/David Miller, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Shami

CSK vs GT Key Players

Chennai Super Kings

  • Mukesh Choudhary

We were surprised to see Choudhary overlooked by so many bookmakers. He was CSK’s pick of the bowlers against Mumbai Indians, a match which they eventually lost defending a paltry 97. Choudhary has been a revelation for Chennai, and there’s no reason to have him discounted.

  • MS Dhoni

He took over as captain following much criticism of Jadeja’s leadership. While CSK is out of the playoffs race, Dhoni will still want to prove a thing or two in the remainder of the IPL.

  • Devon Conway

Devon Conway was CSK’s star player in their win over the Delhi Captians May 8. The South African-New Zealander was also excellent in CSK’s win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 85 off 55 balls, and then scoring 56 off 37 against the RCB, a match which Chennai lost

Gujarat Titans

  • Shubman Gill

There can be little doubt that Shubman Gill has been instrumental to the success of Gujarat Titans in this unexpectedly fruitful season. An excellent batsman who has proven his abilities throughout the season and in their most recent outings, he is most bookmakers’ pick for GT’s top batsman. It’s a prediction we find it hard to disagree with considering his talents and track record.

  • Hardik Pandya

He’s come back from harsh criticisms early this season to be proven one of the best leaders in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He may not be back at full capacity bowling-wise — he only bowled one over against LSG — but his importance as the backbone of his team cannot be denied.

  • Rashid Khan

The good news for those concerned about Pandya’s bowling ability is that he has plenty of backup, with none more important than the fantastic Rashid Khan. The Afghan has played a pivotal role in Gujarat’s success and their ascension to the top of the IPL standings.
