The Biggest Lottery Winners in India & Around the World (2024)

Do you love a good rags-to-riches story as much as we do? You've come to the right place! Read on as we share the biggest lottery winners in India and beyond, give you a lowdown of the top online lottery websites, and highlight the highest lottery prizes for Indians. Who knows — the next big winner might just be you!

Biggest Lottery Winners in India

Let's take a look at some of India’s biggest lottery winners, along with their part-inspiring-part-heartwarming stories below.

1. Hira Singh — ₹415 Crore

The biggest lottery winner in India to date! The renowned Mega Millions lottery dished out USD 50 million to Hira Singh in March 2019 for successfully the landing matching numbers 10, 12, 16, 49, and 57. The whole incident is particularly bizarre, as Singh didn't even know he had the winning ticket until several days later!

Despite the massive prize money, which was a whopping $50,000,000, the draw was actually one of the lowest Mega Millions jackpots ever.

2. Krishna Barri — ₹108.3 Crore

Krishna Barri, an Indian citizen, was residing in Tampa, Florida, when he won the state lottery. Though he won a massive $14.5 million, Barri did not go about spending it the way others probably would, i.e. purchasing real estate and splashing out on lavish vacations. Rather, he chose to use the windfall to pay for the education of a hundred disadvantaged Indian youngsters.

If this bit of information is true, we salute you, sir.

3. Balraj Awasthi — ₹95.6 Crore

Balraj won a huge state lottery that changed his life while he was employed as a professional chef in Toronto, Canada. After winning almost $12.8 million, Awasthi chose to use the money to launch his own company and tour mainland Europe and Australia.

4. Ushakiran Patel — ₹84 Crore

Ushakiran Patel is the fortunate winner of the $1 million (approx. ₹84 crore) US Powerball international lottery. After matching five numbers in the March 2018 lotto draw, the sixty-two-year-old Ushakiran took home the second prize. The numbers she won were 6, 13, 19, 36, and 51.

The fact that she chose her numbers arbitrarily (opting for the Powerball lottery's Quick-Choose function) is what makes it all the more special. And it goes to highlight the fact that a generous sprinkle of luck can never go wrong if you're to become one of India's biggest lottery winners.

5. Pragnesh Peter Saija — ₹58 crore

Just four days after Balraj Awasthi won $12.8 million, another Indian living in Canada, Pragnesh Peter Saija, won $7 million from the Daily Grand Lottery after buying a lottery ticket from a local shop.

His dream family home, complete with multiple bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a home cinema, was what he intended to purchase with his riches. A portion of his profits was also set aside to provide for his children's long-term care, as well as to finance any further education they may choose to pursue.

6. Munavar Fairoos — ₹44 Crore

Munavar Fairoos, a private driver from India who works in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, had an incredible start to the new year by winning the 20 million UAE dirhams (roughly ₹44 crore) jackpot at the Big Ticket Live draw on December 31. After purchasing tickets monthly for five years, he was stunned to hear of his enormous win!

7. Anoop — ₹25 Crore

This auto-rickshaw driver from Thiruvananthapuram wanted to go to Malaysia and pursue a career as a chef. He had applied for a loan in order to fund his studies; however, destiny had other plans.

In September 2022, just a day after his bank loan got approved, the then 25-year-old won the Onam bumper lottery in Kerala worth a whopping Rs 25 crores.

The funny part is that the winning ticket was not Anoop's first choice. He didn't like the first ticket he had purchased, prompting him to pick out another that eventually won. After deduction of taxes, Anoop took home net winnings worth ₹15 crores.

8. Sharafuddin — ₹12 Crore

A lottery ticket seller won the top prize of ₹12 crores in the 2021 Christmas New Year Bumper draw of the Kerala State Lottery. He had been working in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, when lady luck showered her blessings on him.

Every day, Sharafuddin would buy lottery tickets from the Bharani Lottery Agency, which he sold to customers. However, as fate would have it that day, he also had some unsold lottery ticket entries in his own batch, which included the winning ticket.

Sharafuddin, who had previously worked in construction, said he intended to invest the funds he had won.

9. Sadanandan — ₹12 Crore

Sadanandan, fondly called “Sadan”, won the ₹12-crore prize from the Kerala Christmas New Year Bumper BR-83 Lottery in 2022.

A painter residing in Kottayam, Sadanandan purchased the winning ticket with the serial number XG 218582 on the morning of the draw on January 16, 2022. Little did he know that that ticket would change his fortunes forever. After deducting income tax and the lottery agent's commission, Sadan received ₹7.39 crore. Now that's what you'd call a windfall!

10. Ananthu Vijayan — ₹12 Crore

Ananthu Vijayan, a temple worker from Kerala's Idukki, won the grand prize of ₹12 crores in the Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery on September 21, 2020. The 24-year-old at the time purchased the lottery ticket with the serial number TB173964 from a lottery agent a few days prior to the draw date.

When he received a call stating he had won the lottery, Vijayan thought someone was pranking him. Once the truth sank in, the young Ananthu said he planned to establish a business with his father and purchase a small house close to Ernakulam.

11. 6-Man Syndicate — ₹12 Crore

Imagine you and your buddies bought a lottery ticket together, and voilà, you hit the jackpot! Well, that's exactly what happened to a group of friends from Kerala. In 2019, six salesmen working in a jewellery shop won the grand prize of ₹12 crores — and it only cost them ₹600 each!

These friends formed a sextet of the biggest lottery winners in India. Humbly, though, they chose to continue working at their old job — but we do hope they're putting their massive winnings to good use.

12. Haritha Karma Sena — 10 crore

When M. Radha, a sanitation worker in the southern state of Kerala, learned she had won the lottery for ₹10 crore ($1.2 million), she was in disbelief. In June 2023, the 49-year-old, along with 10 of her co-workers, pooled in to purchase a ₹250 Monsoon Bumper Lottery ticket.

The 11 ladies in the group sort non-biodegradable rubbish at the Material Collection Facility in the municipality of Parappanangadi. The ladies have learned to dream big thanks to the windfall, but they have made the decision to stay on the payroll at the Haritha Karma Sena (Green Task Force), which the local government established in 2016 and is crucial to maintaining cleanliness in the state.

13. Nirmal Dhamodarasamy — ₹7.90 Crore

Usually, Dhamodarasamy, a graduate from the University of Illinois, Chicago, would go to the neighbourhood convenience store to purchase his Powerball ticket. But this time, he registered online via a neighbourhood sales representative and won a handsome $1 million.

At the time of his win, Dhamodarasamy was pursuing a master's degree in industrial engineering, and he intended to use part of his winnings to pay for his parents to travel from India to attend his graduation ceremony.

14. The Patels — ₹7.87 Crore

We bet ₹8 crores would change your life quite dramatically — well, that's how much Ashok and Kirti Patel won in 2008. Their ₹7.87 crore windfall was from a single lotto ticket, which proves that you really never know when your lucky number could come up!

15. M. Bensraj — ₹5.20 Crore

In 2002, the then 35-year-old M. Bensraj took part in the 14th Playwin Sikkim Super Lotto draw, one of India's biggest lotteries and also the first. The bumper prize of ₹5.20 crores made Bensraj the first crorepati from an online lottery in the country and undoubtedly one of the biggest Indian lottery winners to date.

While we have since seen many lottery winners from India, nobody can stake the claim to being the first online lottery crorepati.

Biggest Lottery Winners in the World

Now that we've discussed the winners, you're probably wondering whether the wins are as astounding abroad. While European prizes are similar, the United States has dropped some utterly insane prizes — literally billions of US dollars!

Here are five of the world’s biggest lottery winners:

1. Edwin Castro — $2.04 Billion

A short ride to a gas station in Altadena, California, turned miraculous for Edwin Castro in November 2022. Castro bought a Powerball ticket that won him a record-breaking jackpot of $2.04 billion last year. However, for reasons best known to him, he came forward to claim the jackpot only in February 2023 and took home a one-shot payout of $1 billion.

Castro refrained from sharing any more of his personal details, but one thing he was particularly happy about was that the California Public School system, where he had completed his primary education, had also received upwards of $150 million in this draw.

2. Anonymous — $1.765 Billion

In October 2023, a single Powerball ticket purchased in California won the second-largest lottery prize in the United States, valued at $1.765 billion. If it were paid out as cash rather than as an annuity, the value would be a $774.1 million lump sum before taxes. Theodorus Struyck had declared himself to be the agent for a group of people who were going to divide the jackpot in March 2024.

3. The Acosta’s & Co — $1.586 Billion

We couldn't possibly leave out the three winners of the world’s biggest jackpot lottery. In 2016, a monstrous $1.586 billion (₹12,577 crores on the day of writing) was shared between lucky Powerball participants in the U.S.

Marvin and Mae Acosta from California, Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt in Florida, and John and Lisa Robinson in Tennessee shared the jackpot, each getting an annuity worth approximately $533 million before taxes.

The Acosta's remained anonymous for a long time, but later went public.

4. Anonymous — $1.537 Billion (Mega Millions)

One of the highest lottery prizes in the world — the $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot in 2018 — was won through the purchase of a single ticket. The winning numbers 5, 28, 62, 65, and 70, with a Mega Ball of 5, were bought from a KC Mart gas station and convenience store outside Simpsonville in upstate South Carolina.

This marked one of the biggest jackpots ever won by a single ticket and the third-largest in the US, only behind the $2.04 billion and $1.586 billion Powerball jackpots won in 2022 and 2016, respectively. The winnings surpassed the previous Mega Millions jackpot record of $656 million, set in March 2012. The winner chooses to remain anonymous to this day.

5. Anonymous — $1.35 Billion (Mega Millions)

January 13th, a Black Friday, brought in good news as Mega Millions reached its second-highest jackpot size of $1.35 billion, won by a single ticket-holder the very same day in the town of Maine, USA. While the identity of the winner is not known yet, the winning combination of the ticket was 30-43-45-46-61, and a gold mega ball numbered 14.

Fun Fact: Although ostensibly considered unlucky by many, Black Fridays have thrown up seven jackpot winners to date.

6. Four-person Wolverine FLL Club — $1.05 Billion (Mega Millions)

The $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot, won by a lottery club in Oakland County, is the highest payout in the Michigan Lottery history.

The four-person Wolverine FLL Club owned the winning ticket, which matched the drawn numbers 04-26-42-50-60 in addition to the Mega Ball 24. Instead of receiving annuity payments for the whole amount, the club opted to receive their winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of around $776 million after taxes.

The legality of a genuine online lottery in India is complicated and varies by state. There are several statutes that are pertinent to this matter:

The Public Gambling Act of 1867

Online lotteries are not specifically addressed by this act, which predates internet technology. It is mostly concerned with real-world casinos and table games.

The Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998, & the Lotteries (Regulation) Rules, 2010

Subject to certain restrictions, this federal legislation permits state governments to plan, carry out, or encourage lotteries inside their borders. It does not, however, mention internet lotteries directly.

The Information Technology Act, 2000

This statute governs electronic commerce and has been used to restrict websites that offer online gambling services, even though it is not expressly about gambling.

State-Specific Regulations

Every state has its own regulations pertaining to land-based and online gambling and lotteries. As an example:

  • The Sikkim Online Gaming (Regulation) Act of 2008;
  • The Nagaland Prohibition of Gambling and Promotion and Regulation of Online Games of Skill Act of 2015;
  • All lotteries, including those conducted online, are prohibited in some states, such as Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

The Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999

Due to its regulation of foreign exchange transactions, this act may have an impact on foreign online lottery participation.

Since international lotteries are conducted outside of India, players from every Indian state are able to participate regardless of the state's gaming regulations. It is further evident that the Public Gambling Act, 1867, or the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998, do not mention online lotteries, and by that virtue, they are not prohibited in India.

It must also be noted that in 2018, the Ministry of Home Affairs directed all states that run lotteries to have their hardware and software certified by the Standardisation, Testing, and Quality Certification Directorate (STQC). Had online lotteries been illegal, no such directive would have been passed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

You will find a link to what a High Court advocate has got to say on this matter on Kaanoon.com.

Top 10 Highest Lottery Prizes in India

While there are multiple state lotteries available for Indian players, the prize money on offer is not as grand as the international online lotteries. State-run lotteries and Dear Lottery, one of the top lottery companies in India, dish out handsome rewards. However, the money up for grabs at online lotteries is truly in a league of its own.

How To Buy a Lottery Ticket in India

Buying a lottery ticket in India is not a problem, provided your state hasn’t banned the buying and selling of lotteries. You can simply purchase an offline lottery ticket (a paper lottery ticket) or participate in an online draw.

How To Buy an Online Lottery Ticket

  • Step 1: Select a genuine online lottery in India and sign up.
  • Step 2: Log in and deposit funds into your account.
  • Step 3: Browse through the available lotteries and select a draw to enter.
  • Step 4: Choose your desired set of numbers that you think may win.
  • Step 5: Verify this combination and complete your payment.
  • Step 6: You have now successfully completed your first online lottery purchase. Just wait for the results to be declared on the date of the draw.

How To Buy an Offline Lottery Ticket

  • Step 1: Look for an authorised paper lottery ticket seller in your area.
  • Step 2: Ask about the different draws and prizes on offer.
  • Step 3: Select the draw you wish to participate in.
  • Step 4: Make the payment for your purchase.
  • Step 5: You have successfully made your first lottery ticket purchase. Just wait for the results to be declared in the newspaper on the date of the draw, or simply head to the same authorised retailer to verify the results.

Despite the fact that only official government lottery houses are allowed to sell paper tickets in person, a number of fraudsters sell fake ones to customers. Make sure to look for a bar code, state stamp, and the signature of the principal secretary on your tickets to prevent falling for these scams. Should any of the aforementioned be absent, your ticket shall be deemed void.

Government Lotteries in India

The promotion and sale of lotteries by the state governments is very much legal in India as per the Lotteries Regulation Act, 1998. There are 13 states in India that currently have their own lotteries: Nagaland, Manipur, Goa, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Punjab, Assam, Sikkim, and West Bengal.

On March 14, 2023, the then Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Home affairs, Nityanand Rai, said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, “As per Section 4 of the Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998, a State Government may organise, conduct, or promote a lottery, subject to the conditions specified therein.”

1. Nagaland State Lottery

The three DEAR weekly lotteries are now held by the Nagaland state lotteries. These tickets start at just ₹6, but have the potential to win you a ₹1 crore jackpot. Since March 28, 2022, Nagaland has also been hosting two weekly Labhlaxmi, two fortnightly DEAR, and the weekly DEAR 100 Indian state lottery.

2. Manipur State Lottery

You can enter Manipur's four weekly state lotteries every day to see the results for the next week. They are usually announced at 11:55 a.m., 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m. Tickets cost ₹6, and the winning prizes are worth up to ₹27,000,000.

3. Goa State Lottery

Goa is one of the few states in India that permits both lotteries and casinos. There are 19 lotteries running at the moment, some of which are weekly and some, monthly. There are also a few bumper lotteries for specific seasons in addition to this, which will give you the opportunity to win as much as ₹5 crore. A ticket costs only ₹6.

4. Kerala State Lottery

The Lotteries Regulation Act, 1998, has its origins in the Kerala Lottery, which was the country's first. At the moment, the state holds six bumper lotteries annually in addition to seven weekly lotteries. Tickets start at ₹20, but there are prizes worth crores, some going all the way up to ₹20 crores.

5. Arunachal Pradesh State Lottery

Like many other Northeastern states, Arunachal Pradesh, too, offers a time-based weekly lottery with announcements made daily at 10:55 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. A ticket costs only ₹6, and the prize for the winning ticket is ₹26,03,000.

6. Mizoram State Lottery

Like Manipur, Mizoram also holds four weekly lotteries, which are declared at 4:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., 9:55 a.m., and 11:55 a.m. Much like the other stats discussed till now, the price of a ticket is ₹6, and the first-place award is worth ₹25 lakhs.

7. Madhya Pradesh State Lottery

The Madhya Pradesh Lottery Rules, 1969; the Madhya Pradesh Lottery (Niyantran Tatha Kar) Adhiniyam, 1973 (Madhya Pradesh Lottery Act 1973); and the Madhya Pradesh Lottery (Niyantran Tatha Kar) Niyam, 1974 (Madhya Pradesh Lottery Rule 1974) all date back to the 1970s, when the Madhya Pradesh Lottery was first launched.

It was repeatedly outlawed and then reinstated until recently, when it was made legal once again in August 2021. However, since its relegalisation, the state has neither got an official website nor an online presence for its lottery. As a result, everything is done offline, even the publishing of results.

8. Meghalaya State Lottery

While the Meghalaya state lottery ticket costs ₹6, it can earn you as much as ₹29,00,000. Daily announcements of the three weekly lottery draws take place at 11:55 a.m., 4:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.

9. Maharashtra State Lottery

Maharashtra, a state with one of the oldest state lottery systems in India, established its lottery to stop citizens from being duped by unlawful schemes. As of this writing, the state was offering prizes of lakhs of rupees in six weekly lotteries and four mini-lotteries, with lottery tickets starting at ₹10.

10. Punjab State Lottery

Currently, Punjab holds a monthly state lottery in addition to a few big lotteries for the month's major holidays. The organisation in charge of these lotteries is DEAR Government Lottery. Tickets are fairly priced, with prizes going all the way up to ₹7.50 crore.

11. Assam State Lottery

The Bodoland Lottery, Assam's state lottery, releases its results online at 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. Buying a ticket just costs ₹2, yet it gives you the chance to win a lakh or more.

12. Sikkim State Lottery

Sikkim participants, like those in West Bengal, can take part in the three weekly DEAR lotteries at 1:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. Sikkimese residents can also participate in the DEAR 100 Indian state lottery, the two Labhlaxmi weekly lotteries, and the two DEAR fortnightly lotteries. Some of these lotteries have a first prize of ₹3 crore.

13. West Bengal State Lottery

Citizens of West Bengal are currently eligible to participate in a number of weekly lotteries run by DEAR Government Lotteries. Every day at 1:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., the results for the tickets from the previous week are published. The New Year Bumper, Puja Bumper, Diwali Bumper, Banga Lakshmi, Bangabhumi Bhagirathi Super Draw, Bangasree Ichamati Super Draw, and many more are among the other well-known draws valued at an incredible ₹5 crore.

Lotto247 Winners

1. Singh is King

One of Punjab's most recent Lotto247 winners, Mr. Singh won the Mega Millions Max lottery ticket, which fetched him a life-changing $415,000 (₹3,15,00,000) in 2022. He was always optimistic that he’d win someday and purchased eight tickets every month until his luck turned around completely.

2. Bengaluru Man’s Success at the Lottery

In June 2020, 68-year-old Lingaraju D, from Bengaluru, got a windfall of ₹3.8 crore (approximately $514,000). When the retired health inspector learnt that he had become an instant crorepati a mere few hours after the draw, he was obviously over the moon. However, had he matched the Mega Ball, Lingaraju D would have netted an even bigger prize.

3. Dumped by Girlfriend, Becomes Lucky

While most enter the pits of despair after the end of a romantic relationship, some go on to win the lottery. A young man from Massachusetts won a $30.5 million Mega Millions prize just a few days after his girlfriend broke up with him. But destiny had other plans in store for 22-year-old Sandeep Singh.

He won the lottery and chose to accept a one-time lump-sum payout of around $23 million (approximately $16 million after taxes). The young man pledged to pay off debt on his mother's property with some of his winnings and donate the remainder to charity.

Lottoland Winners

1. Lazy Luck

Mr. Govind Gowd of Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, won ₹39,09,073.16 on May 3, 2021, after playing the cutting-edge lottery game keNow. On the fateful day, Mr. Gowd was reportedly feeling blue, so he didn’t want to do much and instead chose to use the game’s Quick Pick function, which automatically generated an arbitrary combination of 20 numbers. When the big news came in and the winning combination was revealed, Mr. Gowd nearly fell off his sofa in disbelief!

2. Mumbaikar's Tryst With Fortune

With a whopping ₹52,86,953.34 won during a live game show (similar to bingo) on May 12, 2021, Mumbai resident Smitha Gonsalves emerged as the First Person Mega Ball winner. Her kids got in the way as she was crossing the lines on her cards, so she hurriedly marked them. Her reaction was hilarious when she realised she had crossed the winning combination, all thanks to her deciding to run riot in the house.

3. Malamaal From Malda

In 2020, Mr. Partho Mondal, a resident of Malda, West Bengal, picked five random numbers at the Cricket Lotto and won a staggering ₹39,09,073.09, thanks to his arbitrary selection. He would often try his luck with random numbers and enjoy playing the Mini Lotto; every time, he would choose numbers off the top of his head without any thought or investing in superstition. And on May 19, 2020, his strategy proved effective, and Mr. Mondal emerged victorious.

Biggest Mega Millions & Powerball Winners in the World

While there are many winners worth mentioning in the list, unfortunately, quite a few of them have claimed their prizes anonymously. Thus, this list will only mention those jackpot wins whose winners have revealed themselves.

$1.602 Billion

  • Draw: Mega Millions
  • Won by: Saltines Holding, a Florida-based company
  • Date of draw: August 8, 2023

The jackpot was dubbed the ‘Mega Billions’ because of its enormity. The winning ticket was purchased from a Neptune Beach Publix.

$1.537 Billion

  • Draw: Mega Millions
  • Won by: Unidentified woman from the South Carolina hamlet of Simpsonville
  • Date of draw: 2018

The fortunate billionaire who won the $1.537 billion jackpot was an unidentified player from the little South Carolina hamlet of Simpsonville. Although the state of South Carolina unfortunately took away $61,000,000 in income tax, the anonymous person was still left with a huge sum of money.

$1.59 Billion

  • Draw: Powerball
  • Won by: Marvin and Mae Acosta, California; Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt, Florida; John and Lisa Robinson, Tennessee
  • Date of draw: 2016

The $1.586 billion Powerball reward, which would have been the largest jackpot in history, was shared among three winners. The three tickets were each worth $327.8 million in cash.

$1.326 Billion

  • Draw: Powerball
  • Won by: Cheng and Duanpen Saephan and their friend Laiza Chao, all from Oregon
  • Date of draw: April 8, 2024

This was a single ticket that won the jackpot. The numbers for this winning draw were 22, 27, 44, 52, and 69. Mike Wells, Director of the Oregon Lottery, said in a statement that it was the fourth-highest Powerball jackpot ever and the largest jackpot to have been won in the state.

$262 Million

  • Draw: Mega Millions
  • Won by: John Williams and Neal Logue, Illinois
  • Date of draw: June 2, 2015

The second-largest reward in Illinois lottery history was shared by John Williams and Neal Logue. The two friends struck it lucky when the first row of numbers on their $5 Mega Millions ticket matched all six numbers to win $262 million. They had been buying lottery tickets together for the previous twelve years.

$326 Million

  • Draw: Mega Millions
  • Won by: Harold Dimond, Middletown, New York
  • Date of draw: January 12, 2015

80-year-old retired NY principal Harold Diamond (a resident of Wurtsboro) was eating with his wife at a local Subway store near a Valero petrol station near Middletown when he noticed the Mega Millions jackpot intermittently flashing at the lottery terminal.

Without any careful thought, Diamond decided to shell out $10 for 10 Quick Pick number sets for that evening’s draw and later forgot about it until his golf buddies the next day started talking about a certain lottery jackpot ticket that was bought by somebody at a Valero off Route 302. And that was when Harold Diamond realised that he may have got tremendously lucky. And indeed, he had.

How To Join the Biggest Lottery Winners in India

There are a few ways of entering a lottery apart from simply buying a single-entry ticket. To increase your chances of being one of the biggest lottery winners in India, consider the following entry methods.

1. Syndicate

Syndicate lottery betting is where many individuals collectively bet on a particular lottery. You basically buy into the syndicate and will receive a proportionate share of any winnings. The benefit here is that since there are many members choosing lottery lines, there is a higher chance of winning.

2. Bundle

The bundle is a mixture of a personal and syndicate entry, meaning you get to win a share of the prize if your syndicate numbers win. However, if your personal lines win, only you collect the prize. Your odds of winning increase in a bundle entry and are arguably the most valuable way to play lotteries online in India.

Biggest Lottery Winners: Where Are They Now?

It is always fascinating to read about some of the biggest lottery winners in the world, but it is even more interesting to know where they are now and how far their fortunes have taken them. Here are some of those slice-of-life stories from the names featured in this article.

1. Cheng and Duanpen — $1.326 Billion

Edwin has reportedly been buying real estate. In a single month, he purchased two sprawling residences for millions of dollars in California. He started off with a $25.5 million Hollywood Hills residence before moving on to a $4 million property with a breathtaking view of the San Gabriel Mountains.

Edwin allegedly purchased an opulent 4,700-square-metre residence worth $47 million in Los Angeles. In addition to several other features, the said property boasts up to seven bedrooms and eleven bathrooms. Reports say that he is very grounded and works with his brother to manage his assets.

3. Patricia Busking — $393 Million

Hailing from Palos Heights, Patricia, who won $393 million, has been spending her days of retirement in peace and leisure.

However, much like what happens with big lottery winners, she has also been allegedly embroiled in controversy. While nobody has received any money to date, some fraudsters have used her name to dupe unsuspecting people. It seems it's the same old ‘Nigerian prince’ story again!
