RCB vs RR Betting Tips

RCB vs RR Betting Prediction

We’re backing RR to win the match @ 1.96

  • Both teams have ten points apiece. This is a big change from last season, when RCB finished third and RR seventh. That said, on paper, Rajasthan has the momentum after winning two back-to-back games (against DC & KKR).
  • The bookies have both teams at close to evens odds. This isn’t surprising, considering RCB beat RR in their last meeting a little under a month ago, but just came off one of the biggest defeats in IPL history against SRH.
  • An important note is that Rajasthan Royals comfortably beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match of the season, the same team that decimated RCB.
  • Rajasthan Royals have been very successful when batting first, meaning if they win the toss, they will likely bat first here.
CBA VERDICT

Regardless of who wins the toss, we think Rajasthan Royals are more likely to walk away winners here. Don’t get us wrong, this will possibly be a close game. However, RCB have the added pressure from their recent colossal failure against SRH. In addition, RR will enjoy a great deal of momentum, plus there’s the talismanic Jos Buttler in the form of his life, capable of shredding apart any opposition on his day.

RCB vs RR Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Royal Challengers Bangalore come into this match following a devastating loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
  • They only managed 68 runs in 16.1 overs, the sixth lowest-ever score in the IPL. Only two batters, Maxwell and Prabhudessai, managed to score in double digits.
  • Things keep getting worse for Virat Kohli, following a second straight golden duck in the last game. He’s only managed 119 runs in 8 matches.
  • Former India coach Ravi Shastri has publicly called for the “overcooked” Kohli to take a break. However, RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar has reposed his faith in the out-of-form Kohli, saying he will get back stronger.

RCB retained: Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Siraj

RCB Probable Playing XI

Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat/Mahipal Lomror, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudessai, Dinesh Karthik, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj

Rajasthan Royals

  • They come into this match having registered two exciting and close victories. They bested Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 runs and Delhi Capitals by 15 runs.
  • In the high-scoring thriller against the DC, Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal shared a 155-run opening partnership. Then Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 46 off just 19 balls.
  • Rajasthan will likely field the same team as their last match.

RR Retained: Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal

RR Probable Playing XI

Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Karun Nair, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

RCB vs RR Key Players

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Faf du Plessis – Faf du Plessis has blown hot and cold this season. Barring his 96 (64) and 88 (57) against the Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings respectively, the Proteas batter hasn’t exactly set the IPL on fire. In his last game against SRH, he scored a measly 5 off 7 balls. Following that painful loss, his leadership and form will both be tested in the upcoming clash.
  • Virat Kohli – Another key player who comes into this match with something to prove, perhaps more than anyone. Virat Kohli is having the worst season of his life following that second golden duck, and this may be his last chance at redemption.
  • Dinesh Karthik – Karthik has played some real good knocks this season – 44* (23) vs RR, 66* (34) vs DC, and 34 (14) vs CSK. Striking at 200, Dinesh Karthik is the lynchpin of the RCB’s middle-order, and the team will bank on him to play a quickfire innings yet again.

Rajasthan Royals

  • Yuzvendra Chahal – The noise surrounding the Buttlers and the Padikkals has somehow drowned the champion performer that is Yuzvendra Chahal. In the 7 games so far, Chahal’s given away 204 runs and taken 18 wickets (best figures of 5/40) at an average of 11.33 and an excellent economy of 7.29. His bowling strike rate is 9.33, which means he’s been taking a wicket every 10 balls. Now that’s what we call a game-changer!
  • Jos Buttler – Buttler has shown why exactly his team retained him ahead of the auctions. His last three scores read as follows: 116 (65) vs. DC, 103 (61) vs. KKR, 54 (24) vs. GT. Against RCB, he smacked 70* off 47 balls. Without Buttler, Rajasthan Royals would have been in a very different position right now, and we reckon he will be the key to RR's fortunes.
  • Sanju Samson – Captain Sanju Samson hasn’t just been a terrific leader for RR this season — a huge turnaround from 2021’s pedestrian outing — but has been a consistent batter in his own right. He has amassed 201 runs in 7 games, at an average of 33.50 and a strike rate of nearly 172.
