Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru – IPL Today's Match Prediction

In this section, we provide our MI vs RCB predictions, which will hopefully help you bet on the 2024 IPL more confidently.

  • MI vs. RCB Win Probability: MI (70%) RCB (30%)
  • In the last 10 IPL matches between the two teams, both have won five apiece.
  • Of the 10 matches between both teams at the Wankhede Stadium, MI has won seven and RCB has won three, with the latter's last victory coming in 2015.
  • With Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David peaking at the right time, the Mumbai Indians have more batting firepower than the Royal Challengers at the moment. While Virat Kohli is in sublime form for RCB, he hasn't gotten much support from the other batters.
  • The Wankhede wicket is a belter of a track, with its short-ish boundaries and a quick outfield giving batsmen room to comfortably free their arms.
MI vs RCB Match Prediction

As far as the two teams' current form is concerned, the Mumbai Indians are definitely the better outfit on paper. That's because we believe the Wankhede wicket will favour the MI batters more, considering their solid top order and RCB's below-par bowling. Keeping these in mind, we at CBA are fully backing the Mumbai franchise to win this match!

IPL 2024 Fixtures and Results

Team News

Mumbai Indians

  • The five-time champions have finally opened their account against the Delhi Capitals. They are currently 8th on the points table with one win and three losses.
  • Suryakumar Yadav will be playing in this match.
  • Mumbai's bowlers have been leaking runs aplenty, which will be a cause for concern.
Mumbai Indians Probable XI

Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Hardik Pandya (C), Romario Shepherd, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Madhwal (Impact Player)

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • With four losses and just one win, RCB is currently 9th on the points table.
  • Barring Kohli, their batting unit has been a disaster, to say the least. Their bowlers, too, have been putting up one disappointing show after another.
  • Himanshu Sharma will make way for Vijaykumar Vyshak in this match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Probable XI

Faf du Plessis (C), Virat Kohli, Saurav Chauhan, Glenn Maxwell, Rajat Patidar, Cameroon Green, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Mayank Dagar, Yash Dayal, Vijaykumar Vyshak (Impact Player)

Key Players

Mumbai Indians

  • Suryakumar Yadav: After missing the first three matches, Suryakumar Yadav has finally joined the team. Given that MI’s middle order has been inconsistent, Surya’s role in that position will be vital. Last season, he was Mumbai’s leading runscorer, with 605 runs and a strike rate of 181.13.
  • Gerald Coetzee: With seven wickets from four matches, Gerald Coetzee is currently the leading wicket-taker for MI. In the previous match vs. Delhi, where bowlers were smashed all over the park, he scalped four important wickets at a reasonable economy rate. Also, his yorkers in the death overs are lethal.
  • Rohit Sharma: The former MI skipper has been his team's highest run-getter against RCB (793 runs). His performance this season has been sub-par, but writing him off, especially at the Wankhede, would not be a wise idea, as he has scored 2,020 IPL runs at this venue at a strike rate of over 160 against RCB.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Virat Kohli: With 316 runs from five matches, Virat Kohli is currently the orange cap holder. He has literally carried the team on his shoulders, scoring 38% of RCB’s total runs this season. With a strike rate of 138.25 and an excellent average of 47.58 at the Wankhede, Virat will be key to RCB’s success in this match.
  • Faf du Plessis: The RCB skipper was his team's leading runscorer last season, and importantly, he relishes playing against the Mumbai Indians. Though he has not fired yet, the Wankhede wicket will suit his batting style. Add to that the fact that he is a livewire on the field.
  • Mohammad Siraj: Consistently crossing the 140 kmph mark with his notorious wobble-seam deliveries, Siraj was the leading wicket-taker for RCB last season while maintaining an economy of just 7.72, which is brilliant for a pacer in the IPL. Though this season his performance has been below par, he can confidently handle the death overs with his toe-crushing yorkers and bouncers.
