Pakistan vs New Zealand Betting Tips

Got a free bet but don’t know what to wager it on? Consider the below PAK vs NZ betting tips from the 5th T20I, which our team at CBA thinks could well turn out correct.

Pakistan vs New Zealand Todays' Match Prediction

  • PAK vs. NZ Win Probability: Pak 60%, NZ 40%
  • New Zealand have won four of their last five T20 matches against Pakistan.
  • When the two teams met in Rawalpindi in 2023, a century from Mark Chapman helped the Black Caps win by six wickets with four balls remaining.
  • New Zealand is missing up to 12 first-choice players due to IPL commitments. While Pakistan, too, has issues with absentees, the team will be bolstered by the return of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim to international cricket.
  • Rawalpindi, the venue for the first three T20Is, can be a fast-scoring wicket, with the new ball assisting batsmen in the initial stages of a match, allowing them to free their arms.
PAKISTAN VS NEW ZEALAND PREDICTION

Pakistan are the clear favourites, and that’s largely due to New Zealand missing many of their key players. The IPL has weakened the Kiwis’ international batting and bowling units, while Pakistan are likely to be at full strength, plus they have the “home” advantage.

While New Zealand’s pace and spin options should feel comfortable on this Rawalpindi surface, and the result may be closer than the match odds suggest, those absentees in the Kiwi camp mean we at CBA are backing a Pakistan win in the T20I series.

  • The team will be close to full strength for the T20I series.
  • Babar Azam has returned as the skipper following Shaheen Shah Afridi’s decision to step down as the skipper.
  • This series marks the return of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim to the international fold. The duo recently came out of retirement just in time for the T20 World Cup in June.

New Zealand

  • The ongoing Indian Premier League has taken many key players out of the New Zealand camp, including Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Glenn Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, and Daryl Mitchell.
  • Tim Southee, the world’s top T20I bowler, has been rested. Along with him, Will Young, Tom Latham, and Colin Munro have been rested as well.
  • All-rounder Michael Bracewell will lead the team, which will feature several unfamiliar faces to cricket fans outside of New Zealand.
  • Adam Milne and Finn Allen have been ruled out of the series due to injuries. Wicketkeeper-bat Tom Blundell and the uncapped Zak Foulkes will be their replacements.
NEW ZEALAND SQUAD

Key Players

Pakistan

  • Babar Azam

The Pakistani captain is also their most reliable batter. Babar Azam is used to the pressure that captaincy brings, and he’ll be the key wicket for New Zealand to target. Babar can play at different tempos, keeping things steady if early wickets have fallen while picking up the pace in the later stages. He has an incredible 11 centuries in T20s, which will do a world of good to the Pakistani dressing room.

  • Mohammad Rizwan

He likes to play the game with a smile on his face, but that happy exterior masks a determined cricketer. As the wicketkeeper and opening bat, it could be argued that Mohammad Rizwan is the most important player in the Pakistani side. He is so consistent at the top of the order and is likely to get his team off to a fast start.

  • Mohammad Amir

Having reversed his decision to retire from international cricket, Mohammad Amir is set to play his first T20I since August 2020. He’ll likely form a left-arm pace and swing opening attack with Shaheen Shah Afridi, and he’ll need to settle back in quickly. Amir has 59 wickets in this format, and his economy rate of 7.02 is outstanding.

New Zealand

  • Michael Bracewell

New Zealand’s stand-in T20I skipper was once considered a spinner who could make useful runs, but he’s since developed into a genuine all-rounder. Bracewell is capable of bowling tight spells while making quick runs in the death overs.

  • Mark Chapman

It’s surprising that Mark Chapman isn’t considered by more franchise teams around the world. With other big names missing, he’s New Zealand’s most explosive batter on this tour and will be a key wicket for Pakistan to target. Chapman has two centuries in the T20 format, including an unbeaten 104 vs. Pakistan at this same ground in 2023.

  • Tim Robinson

He made it to the Kiwi setup on the back of a successful season with the willow, amassing 298 runs in the Super Smash and finishing as the second-highest runscorer in the tournament. His scores also included a staggering 139 off just 64 balls vs. Otago. Add to that the fact that he's a livewire on the field, and New Zealand has got an absolute winner in the 21-year-old.
