LSG vs DC Betting Tips

LSG vs DC Betting Prediction

This should be a really competitive match between two good sides who haven’t delivered their best cricket this season. We’ve decided the best value bet is back the Delhi Capitals to be ahead after the first 6 overs.

  • Both teams have struggled to come out of the blocks with the bat in hand but have used their star players to control the innings and then their dynamic ones to post a decent total. With the dew around it is hard to predict the winner of this match.
  • DC should be expected to make the faster start to the game. David Warner and Anrich Nortje are expected to be back which will give the Capitals some extra power in the powerplay with the bat and the ball whereas LSG tend to start their innings slow and build into a big finish.
  • Prithvi Shaw and David Warner can light up the DC innings from the start because they have so much batting depth and in Nortje and Mustafizur Rahman, Delhi have the bowlers to keep the shackles on LSG in the first six overs.
  • Deepak Hooda is the top scorer for LSG this season. He has two 50s in his three innings but his captain KL Rahul made his highest score of the tournament in the last match after 40 in the game before. He was the top scorer in the competition in 2020 and looks in good form once again.
  • No Delhi batter has made a 50 this season. Lalit Yadav has their highest score which was 48*in the first game against the Mumbai Indians. He is their leading run scorer this season.
  • Avesh Khan comes into this match off the back of a spell of 4/24 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He was one of the leading bowlers in the competition last season and has picked up where he left off with seven wickets in his first three matches.
  • Kuldeep Yadav has started life with DC very well. He is their joint leading bowler with four wickets from the two matches. The Capitals will need him to control the middle of the innings when LSG are looking to pick up the scoring rate.
CBA Verdict

While Delhi Capitals are the favourites to win this match, with the uncertainty of the toss being so important in the matches so far, the best prediction is for the Capitals to be ahead on the scoreboard after the opening six overs.

LSG vs DC Team News

As ever in cricket betting and especially in a competition of this magnitude the team news is all important, particularly this early in the season where the franchises are still looking for their best combinations.

Lucknow Super Giants

  • Jason Holder came into the side for the last match at the expense of Dushmantha Chameera. His West Indies teammate Kyle Mayers will be looking to find a spot in the team for this one.
  • Marcus Stoinis will miss out against his former team as he is still away on international duty with Australia and will have to quarantine when he arrives in India.
  • Manish Pandey only has 22 runs from the opening three games. Mahan Vohra is waiting in the wings for an opportunity should LSG want to make a change.

Delhi Capitals

  • David Warner has missed the first two matches of the competition but Ricky Ponting has indicated that the Australian opening batter should be available for this match.
  • Anrich Nortje arrived to the IPL carrying an injury but he has overcome that and is likely to be available for selection for this match, potentially in place of Shardul Thakur who has been expensive so far.
  • Delhi Capitals will be without their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. He missed the latter part of the Australia tour of Pakistan with an injury which he is still carrying.
  • Mandeep Singh has struggled in the competition so far so Delhi might choose to utilise the services of Ripal Patel in this match.

LSG vs DC Key Players

One of the key things about the IPL is the number of star players that are on show in every match. These two teams have already seen their big players start to come to the party. Here is who we think could make a big influence on this match.

Lucknow Super Giants

  • KL Rahul

The opener had a very poor start to the season with a duck in the opening game but since then he has registered scores of 40 and 68 and looks to be finding the form which saw him lead the run scoring in the 2020 season.

  • Deepak Hooda

The Indian all-rounder has started the season in fantastic form. He has made blistering 50s in two of the three LSG matches and also has a wicket to his name in the few overs he has bowled. He is a key man in the Lucknow middle order.

  • Avesh Khan

The former Delhi man will go up against his old team off the back of a brilliant 4/24 in the last match to take him to seven wickets for the season. He was one of the leading bowlers last season and looks in that form once again.

Delhi Capitals

  • Rishabh Pant

The Delhi Capitals captain hasn’t really got started this season but we have seen in the past the impact that he can have on his team when he finds the middle of the bat.

  • Kuldeep Yadav

The left-arm spinner has moved from Kolkata Knight Riders and looks to be enjoying his cricket with the Capitals. He has four wickets from his opening two matches and will be looking to build on that here.

  • Anrich Nortje

The South African pace man is over his injury problems and can bring the sort of heat with the ball which has batsmen on their toes. Pace has been a key feature of the tournament so far so Delhi will be pleased to have him back.
