LSG vs CSK Betting Tips

LSG vs CSK Betting Prediction

We are backing CSK to get the better of their new opponents and come out on top in this match.

  • Unlike in the first match against KKR, CSK are expecting to have a key player available in Moeen Ali who will provide Ravindra Jadeja with another spin option and a very classy left-hander batting role either high up the order or as a finisher.
  • Chennai Super Kings will be getting their opponents are the right time here. While CSK are gaining personnel, LSG will be missing some key players. Marcus Stoinis will be a big player for them but he is on international duty and although Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder will be in India by the time this match takes place, their arrival will be close to game time so they are likely to miss out.
  • CSK have a good blend for what is always a good wicket at the Brabourne Stadium. They have batters who can lay a platform for the innings and then big hitters to take advantage of that and they have a good mix of extreme pace with the ball and some canny variety to keep the opposing batters guessing
  • LSG look a little bit light with the ball. Ravi Bishnoi looks to be their gun bowler but they will need some of the lesser players to give him support to stop this powerful Chennai batting from getting away from them.
CBA Verdict

CSK have plenty of experience both of the IPL and also T20 cricket with players like MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo having played well over 200 T20 matches. LSG are more inexperienced and in a huge tournament like this that could be important.

LSG vs CSK Team News

Often one of the deciding factors in cricket betting is the team news. Here is the latest news on the two teams.

Lucknow Super Giants

  • Lucknow Super Giants were dealt a big blow in the lead up to the season starting. They spent big on Mark Wood in the auction but injury has ruled him out of the competition. Andrew Tye has been signed in his place and LSG will be hoping he is ready for this match.
  • LSG will definitely be without all-rounder Marcus Stoinis against CSK. He is on international duty with Australia in Pakistan.
  • LSG may well have to do without their West Indies pair of Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder. Both men finish a Test series against England in Grenada three days before this match.
  • Evin Lewis will be waiting in the wings if LSG want to give K L Rahul the gloves and replace Quinton de Kock with the man from the Caribbean.
  • Ravi Bishnoi will be the leader of the attack but other than K Gowtham they lack a strong second spin option.
  • Deepak Hooda could be used as a finisher with the bat and a handy part-time bowler to relieve the pressure on the main options.

Chennai Super Kings

  • After being forced to miss the start of the CSK title defence, the team will be hoping that Moeen Ali will arrive in the country in time to feature in this match.
  • Ravindra Jadeja will captain the Chennai Super Kings for the second time after MS Dhoni gave up the captaincy in the lead up to the tournament.
  • Deepak Chahar will miss out with a quad injury which could see Adam Milne become the leader of the Chennai bowling along with Dwayne Bravo.
  • Devon Conway has been signed to perform the steady role at the top of the innings which will allow the stroke players to flourish around him.
  • Maheesh Theekshana may be reduced to a place on the bench should Moeen Ali be available with Moeen, Adam Milne, Dwayne Bravo and Devon Conway likely to be the overseas players.
  • Chris Jordan and Dwaine Pretorius may have to settle for a place watching on while they wait for a space for them in the team.

LSG vs CSK Key Players

As ever in IPL 2022 there are key players wherever you look in this match. Here is our look at who may offer the biggest influence on this Mumbai contest.

Lucknow Super Giants

  • K L Rahul – The India international has been the leading scorer in the competition in 2020 and was third in the run scoring in 2021. Last season he made 626 runs at an average of 62.60 with six 50s.
  • Manish Pandey – The former Sunrisers Hyderabad batter is another who had a good season last time out. He scored 292 runs in eight innings at an average of 48.66 with a top score of 69*. He hit 21 boundaries and 10 sixes.
  • Ravi Bishnoi – The new India T20 international will be the man K L Rahul turns to either to get a wicket or to stem the flow of runs. He will bowl the important overs and took 12 wickets in nine matches last season with an economy rate of 6.38 per over.

Chennai Super Kings

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad – Nobody scored more runs in IPL 2021 than the Indian opener. He scored 635 runs in 16 innings with a best score of 101*. His 64 fours was more than any other batter managed last season.
  • Dwayne Bravo – The leading bowler in the 2013 and 2015 season could be coming to the end of his time with the Chennai Super Kings but will still be a tricky customer to get away. Jadeja will trust him at the death.
  • Moeen Ali – The England all-rounder will take on a big role with the Chennai Super Kings this season. He will bat high up the order and give Jadeja another very useful spin option.
