Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru – IPL Today's Match Prediction

In this section, we provide our KKR vs RCB predictions, which will hopefully help you bet on the 2024 IPL more confidently.

  • KKR vs. RCB win probability: KKR (75%) RCB (25%)
  • In the last 10 matches between both sides, KKR and RCB have won five games apiece.
  • The two teams have met 11 times at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The hosts have dominated proceedings, winning seven and RCB winning four.
  • The RCB bowling attack is in shambles. Their middle-order batters have failed to convert good starts. KKR, on the other hand, has been the more dominant team with the bat, and their spinners have been right on the money this season.
  • Since it’s a day-night game, the Eden Gardens wicket would develop cracks, which will assist spinners. Batting will become easier in the second innings.
KKR vs RCB MATCH PREDICTION

Both teams are meeting for the second time this season, and this time too, we are putting our money on KKR. This is purely because of the current form of both teams; while KKR has looked strong, RCB is on a five-match losing streak. What adds more problems to the mix for RCB is that their bowlers have been woeful, having been belted around the park. Against a team that is filled with power hitters, RCB’s bowlers will once again be at the receiving end.

IPL 2024 Fixtures and Results

Team News

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • The Knight Riders are currently 2nd on the points table with four wins and two losses.
  • They failed to defend 223 runs in their match against the Rajasthan Royals, which was also the highest successful run chase.
  • KKR’s batsmen are in top form, having scored the most runs in the powerplays so far.
  • Nitish Rana is fit and might replace Venkatesh Iyer in this match. Also, though Andre Russell and Sunil Narine suffered minor hamstring pulls, they will be playing this match.
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS PROBABLE XI

Philip Salt, Nitish Rana, Shreyas Iyer (C), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshith Rana, Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora (Impact Player)

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • RCB is languishing at the bottom of the points table with only a solitary victory from seven matches. This is a must-win game for them.
  • They scripted an unfortunate record of conceding the most runs in an IPL game against SRH when the latter belted RCB’s bowlers to put up 287/3 on the board.
  • Their bowling unit is the teams’ major cause for concern. In their last match vs. SRH, as many as four bowlers – Reece Topley, Yash Dayal, Lockie Ferguson, Vyshak Vijay Kumar — conceded 50+ runs individually.
  • Glenn Maxwell has taken an indefinite break from the remainder of this IPL. Anuj Rawat is declared fit and will be back in the playing XI.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE PROBABLE XI

Faf du Plessis (C), Virat Kohli, Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Saurav Chauhan, Mohammad Siraj/ Yash Dayal, Reece Topley, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Lockie Ferguson, Anuj Rawat (Impact Player)

Key Players

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • Sunil Narine: Perhaps the greatest success story of IPL 2024 so far, Sunil Narine has changed the dynamics of T20 cricket. With 276 runs in six matches, Narine is the highest runscorer for his team and also the highest wicket-taker, with seven scalps to his name. Add to that, his strike rate is 187.76, and he has also smashed 20 sixes, the most in the tournament after Henrich Klaasen.
  • Andre Russell: Even though Muscle Russell hasn’t had too many chances to bat this season courtesy of a strong top order, a player of his calibre cannot be ruled out. He has a great record against RCB and has scored the most runs against them on the current KKR roster.
  • Varun Chakravarthy: He has picked up 13 wickets in nine matches against RCB. Importantly, he’s been frugal, with an economy rate of just 6.53, which is gold dust in the shortest format of the game. The last time these two teams met at the Eden Gardens, Chakravarthy picked up four wickets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Dinesh Karthik: In his farewell IPL season, Dinesh Karthik has been the lone silver lining (apart from captain Kohli, of course) in the otherwise miserable RCB’s batting performance. He has scored 226 runs so far at a mind-boggling strike rate of 205.45. His knock of 83 off 35 against SRH gave all the RCB fans some hope, but it eventually came up slightly short in their mammoth run chase to 288.
  • Virat Kohli: What is the only other positive for RCB this season apart from Dinesh Karthik's pyrotechnics? King Kohli will be it. With 361 runs in seven matches, Kohli is not only the leading runscorer for his team but also in the whole tournament. It is such a shame that the other RCB batters have failed to rally behind a masterclass like Virat Kohli.
  • Faf du Plessis: The skipper hasn’t been at his absolute best, but in a team that can be best described as a collective failure this season, Faf’s contributions with the bat have salvaged at least some pride at the top of the order. The captain has 232 runs under his belt in his seven matches, and those runs have come at a pretty healthy strike rate of 154.66. Faf definitely needs to step up and deliver to make sure the bulk of the scoring doesn’t fall on Kohli and DK alone.
