KKR vs MI Betting Tips

KKR vs MI Betting Prediction

For KKR vs MI betting in their upcoming match of IPL 2022, we’re backing KKR to win the match @ 1.91 on Bet365.

  • Some bookies give a slight edge to Mumbai Indians, making them marginal favourites.
  • This is despite the fact that MI have lost both of their opening matches, while KKR have been largely successful, having won two out of three of their IPL matches of the season thus far.
  • MI looked strong in defeat to Rajasthan Royals, in part thanks to awesome performances from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma.
  • Mumbai Indians are known to be slow burners, and in fact have not won their opening game of an IPL season in ten years.
  • Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand, had great success utilising more aggressive tactics against the Punjab Kings.
  • We expect a similar strategy employed here, with few if any changes to the starting line-up. That forward style of play, we think, will be the key to victory here, and we expect the likes of Andre Russell to be employed in a similar manner
CBA Verdict

While we agree that Mumbai Indians have the potential to go far this season, we get the impression that they aren’t quite the finished article yet. Kolkata Knight Riders on the other hand appear to have settled into a groove with the forward play we saw in their most recent match. We think that will give KKR the edge and they are therefore our pick to win here.

KKR vs MI Team News

It feels like the 2022 IPL season has only just begun and already each team has had it’s share of drama. Here’s the most recent and relevant team news for this exciting fixture.

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • KKR bested Punjab Kings by 6 wickets with 33 balls remaining to rise to the number two position in their Indian Premier League standings.
  • Andre Russell has been vocal in recent interviews about his determination to have a big impact this season, just as he did against Punjab Kings.
  • Umesh Yadav’s fantastic start this season has seen him become an internet sensation, with memes related to his excellence trending across Twitter
  • KKR captain Shreyas Iyer has been praised by legendary India all-rounder Irfan Pathan following their excellent win over PK, kindly stating that “KKR under Shreyas is the team to beat”.
  • Andre Russel’s aggressive style has been criticised by former bowler Simon Doull who called him “an injury waiting to happen”. Russell returned in 2021 from a hamstring injury.
  • Otherwise, the team appears largely healthy. Notably, Alex Hales pulled out before the season due to fatigue.
  • We expect a very similar line up to the Punjab Kings game.
Kolkata Knight Riders Probable Playing XI

Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Sam Billings, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav , Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy

Mumbai Indians

  • Mumbai Indians have lost both matches so far this season.
  • 19-year-old Tilak Varma’s incredible rise has been the subject of much interest and media coverage. We’ll surely see his partnership with Varma be utilised again here.
  • MI have faced a great deal of criticism following their loss to Rajasthan Royals, with former India Opener Aakash Chopra calling their bowling quality “extremely weak”, and their head coach saying they lack concentration in key moments.
  • To improve training and the health of their players, Mumbai Indians have created a 13,000 square metre “MI Arena” recreational facility for players, staff and even their families.
  • In terms of injury news, perhaps the most pressing is that Jofra Archer is still unavailable and looks to remain so for the rest of the season due to a long-standing elbow injury. Considering that so many of the criticisms levied at Mumbai Indians are related to their bowling, this is a substantial loss.
  • Riley Meredith has been vocal about his desire to be utilised in upcoming fixtures and has stated he feels there’s great potential in a partnership with Bumrah. A potential solution to the bowling problem, and we think a likely change to the line-up.
Mumbai Indians Probable Playing XI

Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Anmolpreet Singh, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

KKR vs MI Key Players

Key to making the smartest bets on the the best cricket betting apps and sites is knowing what players are likely to be difference makers. With that in mind here’s our picks for the key players for both Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.

Kolkata Knight Riders

  • Umesh Yadev

He’s been an absolute sensation so far this season and it’s no surprise that he’s the bookie’s choice for top bowler across the board. Most important of all is that he provides quality in an area where Mumbai Indians are struggling.

  • Andre Russell

If there’s one man you’ll want to watch, not just for his astounding individual contributions, but also for a symbol of the team’s direction, it’s Andre Russell. He is the figurehead of the forward, aggressive style of play which worked so well in their most recent game. It’ll be interesting to see if they let him cut loose again here, and if it can have the same positive results.

  • Shreyas Iyer

Speaking of that new direction the man holding it all together is team captain Shreyas Iyer, whose direction and leadership have gained acclaim from all across the sport and is evidenced by the improvement seen in KKR this season.

Mumbai Indians

  • Rohit Sharma

There’s an enormous amount of pressure on Mumbai Indians right now. We can debate the idea that they are slow burners, but at the end of the day they need to win in order to stop this season from falling to pieces. Sharma is not only a talented player but the captain, the one steering this ship. There’s no more important piece of the MI puzzle than him right now.

  • Tilak Varma

At 19 years old he is already having a huge impact on the game and if we see a similar showing from him and Kishan in this game as we did last time around, then it may be too much for KKR to handle. Like watching a rising star and wondering how high and bright it may go.

  • Riley Meredith

While some of the harsher naysayers might be a bit overboard in their negative assessments of Mi’s bowling, there’s no doubt this is a point of concern. Riley Meredith, if his recent comments are anything to go by, thinks that he could be part of the solution. If he’s included in this game, which we think is likely, it’ll be interesting to see what impact he can have.
