India vs Ireland Todays' Match Prediction

  • India vs. Ireland Win Probability: IND (90%) IRE (10%)
  • Both teams have played seven T20Is against each other, with India winning all of them.
  • The two teams have met only once in the T20 World Cup, way back in 2009. India won that game by eight wickets.
  • Ireland boasts a competitive batting lineup that, in recent times, has scored runs against top teams like Pakistan and England. Most of the Indian batters, on the other hand, did not have a good IPL season this time; however, their bowlers are in sublime form.
  • A drop-in pitch will be used at the Nassau County Stadium. The pitch is expected to be on the slower side; hence, expect the bowlers to wreak havoc. Expect a low to moderate score.
INDIA vs IRELAND MATCH PREDICTION

We at CBA are predicting a landslide victory for the Men in Blue in this match. Though the Irish have improved significantly of late and will put up a good fight against the spirited Indian squad, they are no match for Rohit Sharma and his boys.

Team News

India

  • India is currently the top-ranked team in the shortest format. The men in blue won their last T20I series against Afghanistan 3-0 in January earlier this year.
  • Rohit Sharma will be leading the Men in Blue, with Hardik Pandya as his deputy.
  • Middle-order batting woes continue, hanging like the proverbial albatross around the team’s neck.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube are all set to play in their maiden T20 World Cup.

Rohit Sharma (C), Hardik Pandya (VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav/ Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

Ireland

  • Ireland is currently ranked 11th in the ICC T20I rankings. They are entering this tournament after a tightly contested series against Pakistan, which they eventually lost 2-1.
  • Paul Stirling will be captaining the side, with Harry Tector as his deputy.
  • Seasoned leg spinner Gareth Delany is also making a comeback to the squad after being sidelined for a year due to injury.

Key Players

India

  • Jasprit Bumrah: After being sidelined for almost a year from international cricket due to injury, Jasprit Bumrah finally made a successful comeback and will look to build on that during the T20 World Cup. He had a terrific IPL, picking up 20 wickets at an economy of 6.48. He is undoubtedly the top contender to emerge as the best bowler of the tournament.
  • Suryakumar Yadav: The top-ranked T20I batsman for the past two years is without a doubt the backbone of his side in the shortest format. The modern-day “Mr. 360”, as he is fondly referred to, can send the ball flying to all corners of the park. His ability to utilise the powerplay overs and play attacking cricket right from the first delivery has cemented his place as India’s prime T20 batsman.
  • Virat Kohli: Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Silencing all his critics, King Kohli won the Orange Cap in this year’s IPL, scoring 741 runs at a strike rate of 154.69. He is the leading runscorer in the history of the T20 World Cup, scoring 1,141 runs at an astounding average of 81.50. He also has the most 50+ scores (14) in T20 World Cup history.

Ireland

  • Paul Stirling: The captain has played some superb knocks over the years and is the top-ranked Irish batsman in the ICC T20I rankings. With 24 half-centuries (and above) and a total of 3,589 runs under his belt, Stirling is the most experienced campaigner for his team, and Ireland will be counting on his experience to post a competitive total on the board.
  • Joshua Little: He is the top-ranked Irish bowler in the ICC T20I rankings. Over the past two years, he has been the most dependable bowler for his side and has the knack of taking crucial wickets at regular intervals. Add to that, he has been associated with the Gujarat Titans for the past couple of seasons, so Ireland will hope Little can do a lot with that kind of experience.
  • Andrew Balbirnie: He was the leading runscorer for his team recently when Pakistan toured Ireland. He is also the top run-getter in this rivalry. Along with Paul Stirling, he has been the most consistent batsman for his team, and Ireland will be banking on him to maintain the momentum in the middle order.
