India vs England Todays’ Match Prediction

  • IND vs. ENG Win Probability: IND (55%) ENG (45%)
  • In the last 10 T20Is between the two teams, India has won six and England, four.
  • Both teams have met four times in the T20 World Cup to date, and they’ve won two games apiece.
  • England’s openers are in red hot form. However, their other batters haven’t really been up to par. India’s batting, on the other hand, has gradually improved.
  • Bot bowling units have been in good shape.
  • The pitch here at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, will be a slow wicket, where batters will struggle to score runs. Bowlers, especially spinners, will have a significant advantage as there will be turn on offer. Rain is expected to play spoilsport, and in case of a washout, India will go through to the finals.
India vs England Match Prediction

Encounters like this have gone down to the wire in recent times. It will be an even contest as both teams meet each other for the second successive T20 World Cup semi-final, and we at CBA are keeping India slightly ahead in this game.

This is because their middle- and lower-order batters are in much better shape compared to England. Also, all their bowlers are in excellent form at the moment and should exploit the conditions on the slow Guyana wicket.

Team News

India

  • India topped their Super 8 group, winning all three games. They are the only undefeated team in this tournament along with South Africa.
  • The men in blue defeated Australia comprehensively in their Super 8 fixture, which would do their confidence a world of good.
  • Good news for the fans is that skipper Rohit Sharma seems to be back in form. However, Virat Kohli’s poor show continues; he’s only scored 66 runs so far in the tournament (including three ducks).
  • No changes are expected in the playing XI.
INDIA PROBABLE XI

Rohit Sharma (C), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shivam Dube, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav

England

  • The defending world champions have only lost two games so far in the tournament. One against Australia in the group stages, followed by one against South Africa in the Super 8s.
  • They defeated the United States comprehensively by 10 wickets in their previous Super 8 fixture, in the process becoming the only team to register two 10-wicket victories in T20 World Cup history.
  • Barring their openers, the English batsmen have not been up to par. Their bowlers, especially seamers, have leaked runs.
  • Chris Jordan is nursing a minor injury and might be replaced by Reece Topley if he doesn’t recover on time.
ENGLAND PROBABLE XI

Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (C & wk), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran (VC), Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Chris Jordan/ Reece Topley

Key Players

India

  • Kuldeep Yadav: The “chinaman” has been the most impactful bowler for India in the Super 8s. He has picked up seven wickets in three matches and choked the flow of runs in the middle overs. On a wicket that would be conducive to his bowling style, Kuldeep will likely be a tough candidate for the English batters, who have struggled against left-arm spin.
  • Rohit Sharma: When the going gets tough, the tough gets going. The skipper displayed his class in an important clash against Australia, scoring 92 runs from 41 balls, a knock that included eight sixes. In the process, he became the first player to hit 200 sixes in T20Is, also eclipsing Mahela Jayawardene to become the second-highest run-getter (1154) in the history of the T20 World Cup.
  • Arshdeep Singh: With 15 wickets in just six matches, Arshdeep has impressed all and sundry, and he's the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament after Fazalhaq Farooqi. Importantly, his bowling strike rate of 9.60 means he gets those wickets at regular intervals. And that's no surprise, considering his in-swingers are weapons forged in hell.

England

  • Jos Buttler: The skipper played a dominant hand against the USA, scoring 83 runs off just 38 balls, a knock that included a 30-run over. He is the leading runscorer for his side (191) and has been getting those runs at an excellent strike rate of 159.17. Unlike his teammates, “Jos the Boss” is a crafty player of spin, which should reap him dividends against India, a side that has quality spinners in its ranks.
  • Adil Rashid: With nine wickets from seven matches, Adil Rashid is the leading wicket-taker for England, along with Jofra Archer. He has been extremely frugal too, maintaining a miserly economy of only 6.70. Rashid has always performed well against India, especially against the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The slow Guyana wicket should only make him more dangerous.
  • Phil Salt: With 183 runs from seven matches, Phil Salt is the second-highest run-getter for his side in the tournament so far. Importantly, his strike rate of 166.36 is the highest among batsmen who have accumulated 150+ runs in the competition. He had a terrific IPL season this year and will look to cash in on his experience against the Indian bowlers.
