Afghanistan vs India Todays’ Match Prediction

  • Afghanistan vs. India Win Probability: IND (65%) AFG (35%)
  • Both teams have played eight T20Is against each other, with India winning seven and one game ending without a result.
  • To date, both teams have met three times head-on in the T20 World Cup, with India winning all of them.
  • Both bowling attacks are in sublime form at the moment. When it comes to batting, the Afghan openers seem to be in good touch and have done the bulk of the scoring for the team. Contrarily, India has been reliant on a few individual brilliances in the middle order.
  • The pitch here at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, offers some seam movement to the new bowlers. While bowlers dominated proceedings early on in the tournament, batting conditions have improved, with Australia breaching the 200-run mark vs. England.
Afghanistan vs India Match Prediction

Afghanistan has been a giant killer in recent times and might very well spring a surprise against the top-ranked side. However, we at CBA are keeping India ahead in this match. This is because they have always played well against the Afghans and have never lost against them across formats. Secondly, the Afghans arguably lack the temperament to perform in crunch situations.

Key Players

Afghanistan

  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz: The wicketkeeper-opening batter has been the top-ranked T20I batsman for his team for quite some time now. With 167 runs from four matches so far, Gurbaz is currently topping the runs chart. What makes him more dangerous is the fact that he can play his aggressive shots even on a difficult wicket.
  • Fazalhaq Farooqi: What a great start to the tournament by Farooqi! With 12 wickets from four matches, he is currently this edition’s leading wicket-taker. His spell of 5/9 vs. Uganda is the best figures ever by an Afghan in the T20 World Cup. Importantly, his bowling strike rate currently is 7.17, which means he’s been getting one wicket every seven deliveries, which is mind-boggling.
  • Rashid Khan: You just can’t keep the Afghan skipper out for long. The top-ranked T20I bowler for his team also has the ability to play cameo knocks with the bat in the slog overs, making him a real MVP for his side. His experience playing against Indian players in the IPL will add a lot of value to the Afghan dressing room.

India

  • Hardik Pandya: With seven wickets to his name so far, Hardik Pandya is currently the leading wicket-taker for his team in the tournament. His in-swinger and surprise bouncers have troubled the best of batters. However, the team will expect him to fire with the bat as well.
  • Rohit Sharma: With King Kohli woefully out of form, the onus is on the captain to utilise the powerplay overs. He scored a century against Afghanistan earlier this year, which was his fifth T20I century (the most in the world, along with Glenn Maxwell). Along with Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, the hitman recently became the third player ever to score 4,000 T20I runs.
  • Arshdeep Singh: The only left-arm fast in the Indian dressing room, Arshdeep Singh, too, has picked up seven wickets in the tournament. His spell of 4/9 against the United States earned him the Player of the Match award. His in-swinging yorkers are tough to face; however, he has the tendency to leak a tad too many runs at the death.

Where to Watch?
