RCB vs CSK Betting Prediction

We’re backing CSK to win this match @ 2.06

  • The first RCB vs CSK match saw Chennai win by 23 runs. While that was a bounce-back performance of sorts from CSK after a string of four consecutive losses, many believed that luck was a key factor in that win as RCB’s key bowler, Harshal Patel, did not play that match.
  • However, since then, CSK has significantly improved its game and has won two out of the last three matches. On the other hand, RCB has seen a drastic dip in its performance, with back-to-back losses in the previous three matches.
  • Nonetheless, we expect this match to be a nail-biter, with both teams keeping a weather eye on the playoffs.
  • CSK must win all the five group-stage matches, and RCB at least three, to qualify for the playoffs.
  • RCB has a brilliant top order on paper, but we have yet to see that translate on the field.
  • CSK always had a strong squad, it’s just that they couldn’t find the right gameplan, but things seem to be finally falling into place with Dhoni back at the helm.
CBA Verdict
We are going all out on CSK winning the match. CSK has more experience, and it seems to be on the path to regaining its old form- aggressive and uncompromising. To make things more convincing, MS Dhoni, who led CSK to eight finals and won four IPL trophies, is back as the captain and already showed his capabilities by winning the first match against SRH without two key players.

RCB vs CSK Team News

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • RCB has lost its momentum in the past few matches, and disappointing performances by key players is now becoming a massive cause of concern.
  • No injury concerns at the moment, and we don’t see any squad changes apart from last-minute strategic calls with respect to batting, which has been a major weakness this season.
  • The top order, including Virat Kohli and Maxwell, has hardly managed to score. After several matches, Kohli finally scored 58, but at a less-than-desirable strike rate of just 109.43, putting pressure on other batters.
  • The bowling department is better placed, with speedster Harshal Patel leading the pace attack alongside Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga. Retaining Siraj has not augured well for the team as he has leaked runs, while not being among the wickets either.

RCB retained: Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammad Siraj

Royal Challengers Bangalore Probable Playing XI

Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror, Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammad Siraj

Chennai Super Kings

  • CSK is in good shape with two wins in the last three matches but is still under pressure as it needs to win all the upcoming matches to secure a berth in the playoffs.
  • Dwayne Bravo is injured, and there is no update on his return yet. Shivam Dube was also removed from the team for the last match against SRH.
  • The entry of Devon Conway (85 off 55 against SRH) made up for Dube's absence, and the team will take a lot of heart from that.
  • Ruturaj Gaikwad finally came good, scoring 99 runs (57) against SRH. While consistency has been a concern with Gaikwad this season, others like Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, and now Devon Conway make for a solid batting order.
  • Mukesh Choudhary and M Theekshana are bowlers to watch out for in this match. With the pressure of captaincy off his back, we also expect Jadeja to start delivering like earlier.

CSK retained: Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali

Chennai Super Kings Probable Playing XI

MS Dhoni (c), Ravindra Jadeja, Robin Uthappa, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Devon Conway, Simarjeet Singh, Dwaine Pretorius, Mukesh Choudhary, Mahesh Theekshana.

RCB vs CSK Key Players

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  • Faf du Plessis
Despite the added responsibility of captaining the team, du Plessis continues to be the highest run-scorer for the team, with a total of 276 runs and HS of 96 runs.
  • Harshal Patel
Patel single-handedly maintained the bowling prowess of the team when other bowlers were still struggling with wickets in the first few matches. He has a solid grip over line and length and continues to be the pillar on which RCB’s pace attack stands.
  • Wanindu Hasaranga
The Sri Lankan all-rounder has made a mark with his leg-spin and is the highest wicket-taker for the team. He has 15 scalps at an economy of just over 8 and a bowling average of 18.20.

Chennai Super Kings

  • Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj has been inconsistent, but his 99-off-57-balls knock against SRH will give CSK a lot of relief. Sign of things to come, we reckon.
  • Devon Conway
The New Zealander is a worthy replacement for Shivam Dube, who was the highest run-scorer for the team this season. Conway has played just two matches so far, smashing 85* (55) with 12 boundaries (8x4s, 4x6s) in his second outing.
  • Mukesh Choudhary
The young pace bowler has come under the limelight with 11 scalps, including a four-for, making him the second-highest wicket-taker after Dwayne Bravo. He was instrumental in the win against SRH as he took two key top-order wickets and then two more later.
