CSK vs MI Betting Prediction

We are backing CSK to win this match @ 1.86

  • All teams have their eyes set on qualifying for the playoffs at the moment. While the Mumbai Indians are out of the race for the IPL title, CSK still have a slim chance of making it to the top four, so every match is crucial for them.
  • MI have won only two of the 11 matches so far and had also lost the first match against CSK by three wickets. CSK have performed relatively better and seem to have a got a fresh infusion of life since MSD picked up the reins of the team again.
  • With Devon Conway in impeccable form at the top of the batting lineup, the Super Kings have enough firepower to set or chase down a large target. On the other hand, most of MI’s batters have failed to live up to expectations, a major reason for the team’s debacle this season.
  • Both teams are armed with seasoned bowlers, with Bravo and Mukesh Choudhary in the CSK camp and Bumrah and Murugan Ashwin with the MI.
CBA VERDICT

Our bet is on CSK winning this match. The team has seen a resurgence in the past few matches with a couple of big-margin victories. While the defeat against RCB was definitely a blow, the subsequent win against DC by a margin of 91 runs was more than reassuring.

MI, on the other hand, lacked the fire in the belly this season, and we do not expect them to do much in whatever is left of the season.

CSK vs MI Team News

Chennai Super Kings

  • The Super Kings have bounced back, but are walking on thin ice because of several back-to-back losses at the start of the season. The team needs to win all the remaining matches by considerable margins to secure a spot in the playoffs.
  • The team is under massive pressure to win, and win big, but luckily there are no injury concerns at the moment.
  • On the batting front, Devon Conway has more than made up for Shivam Dube’s departure from the squad, registering incredible performances in the last three matches (87, 56, and 85 runs).
  • The bowling unit has been delivering consistently. Dwayne Bravo, Maheesh Theekshana, and Mukesh Choudhary have emerged as reliable bowlers for the team and do a splendid job at getting wickets and plugging the runs.

CSK retained: Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ruturaj Gaikwad

Mumbai Indians

  • With only two wins in eleven matches, the team is out of the playoffs race, and they’ll only look to salvage some pride in the remainder of the games.
  • MI top batter, Suryakumar Yadav, is still out due to injury concerns.
  • The batting unit has failed to put up a show of strength, except for a few decent performances by Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Tilak Varma. Those too, however, were too few and far between.
  • Jasprit Bumrah and Murugan Ashwin are the bowlers to watch out for in this match.

CSK vs MI Key Players

Chennai Super Kings

  • Devon Conway – They say better late than never! And we couldn’t agree more with it, given CSK’s current situation. Brought in as a replacement for Shivam Dube, the New Zealander has played only four matches so far, scoring 50+ in all outings except the first.
  • Dwayne Bravo – With 16 wickets to his name, Bravo has been instrumental in charting CSK’s sort of resurgence this time. The Trinidadian has been among the wickets consistently, and despite a two-match injury break, he went on to immediately take two wickets in his comeback game.
  • Mukesh Choudhary – The left-arm medium pacer has left a mark in his debut IPL season, riding on commendable performances. Choudhary has been successful with the wickets, and his four-for against SRH, along with Devon Conway’s marauding innings, helped CSK clinch that match.

Mumbai Indians Key Players

  • Ishan Kishan – Often under criticism for the exorbitant price he was paid at the auctions, Ishan has delivered with the bat, though not as much as MI would have liked. With three 50s and 321 runs already to his name, Ishan is the team’s second-highest run-scorer with a highest score of 81*.
  • Jasprit Bumrah – Bumrah has been leading MI’s pace attack for several years now, and even though he was going through a tough phase with the wickets, his performance in the last match against KKR (4.0-10-5) underscored why one cannot discount a player like him.
  • Murugan Ashwin – With nine scalps to his name, Murugan Ashwin is the highest wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians after Bumrah. He doesn’t leak too many runs as well (economy of 7.86), which isa great thing in T20 cricket.
