Boasting European heavyweights like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, Bundesliga betting has become intrinsically linked with so many of the best football betting sites. Bundesliga Betting Tips and Predictions (2020/21)
At the time of writing, Bayern Munich were doing what they always do, sitting at the top of the table. An impressive six wins in eight along with a single loss means the reigning-Champions League holders are once again the team to beat in Germany. However, this year, Borussia Dortmund are doing everything they can to keep pace with their arch-rivals. 18 points from eight games means Dortmund are just a single point short of Bayern as they look to wrestle a title that has become so synonymous with the current German champions.
Away from the top, Schalke, FC Koln and Aminia currently make up the bottom three, although only five points separate 18th from 12th, meaning this one is shaping up to be an unbelievably tight relegation battle. Closer to the top, Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Leipzig and Union Berlin are all vying for a Champions League spot, with the top of the Bundesliga table looking as tight as the bottom-half of the table.
Despite how close it is at the top, the bookmakers have not wavered in their support of Bayern. While it is clear to see who the favourites are, this only serves to show how much value there is in backing the likes of Borussia Dortmund. This should of course be taken with a pinch of salt though, as Bayern are huge favourites for a reason, with the Bavarian side winning the last eight Bundesliga titles in a row. However, if you were to back Dortmund or another side to win and they were able to usurp Bayern, you could be in for a very big win.
What could hurt Bayern this year is their push for dominance in both the league and in Europe. The Champions League holders had to wait seven years to lift the trophy they last held back in 2013 as they brushed all before them aside in a dominant campaign. This push for dominancemeans that they will likely play their best side across all of the competitions they are drawn in, meaning the toll on their squad could be huge. This could therefore mean that cracks in their armour could appear in any of the competitions they are battling in, the Bundesliga included.
Popular Bets for German Bundesliga
The global appeal of football means that sportsbooks across the world have had to jostle for position when offering the best markets available, much like they have done to ensure they have a glut of cricket sportsbooks available, which includes the biggest leagues like the IPL and the Bangladesh Premier League. This means that Bundesliga betting is very well catered for, with the biggest bookies targeting the German league as one to supply a lot of markets for.
Perhaps only the English Premier League boasts a bigger betting market than the Bundesliga, with both La Liga betting and Serie A betting likely to pull in similar numbers. While the numbers of bettors putting money on different Bundesliga betting tips and Bundesliga betting predictions may not be quite as fast and furious as the Indian Premier League, it is still very impressive.
German Bundesliga Betting: Outright Winner
If you just have a feeling that one of the outsiders may have a chance this season, or you fancy Bayern to walk to the title again, you can back any of the sides in the league to win outright. To do so, simply choose the team you think will lift the trophy at the end of the season, place a stake you are happy with and wait and see whether you are right come the end of the campaign. If you managed to plump for an underdog to win outright, you could be looking at a very big payout if you make the right Bundesliga betting predictions.
German Bundesliga Betting: Golden Boot (Top Scorer)
The Golden Boot, also known as the league’s top scorer, is a bet on the player, usually a striker, that you think will end the season with the most goals. For your bet to pay out, you must have backed the player that hits the back of the net the most times in the Bundesliga in the season. This type of Bundesliga betting can really pay off if you nail your selection, but there are often a few surprises along the way when it comes to the top scorer.
German Bundesliga Betting: Both Teams To Score
This is a matchday bet that is centred on whether or not you believe both teams will score in the match. This market requires some knowledge, along with a bit of luck, as you will have to correctly predict whether both teams will score or not. What makes this market easier for more novice bettors is the fact that you do not have to predict the score or know who will score, instead, you bet on whether or not the two Bundesliga outfits will score over the course of 90 minutes. We offer a huge number of betting tips and match predictions, with BTTS betting and BTTS Bundesliga betting often featured on site.
German Bundesliga Betting: Anytime Goalscorer
This one does exactly what it says on the tin. Here, you will back who you believe will score a goal in the match. What makes this such a good market is the fact that if 10 goals are scored and your pick for anytime scorer hits the back of the net to register the 11th goal of the game, you will still win. As long as the player you have backed scores at some point in the game, your bet will win.

Tournament Structure for German Bundesliga
The Bundesliga runs from the middle of August up until the middle of May each season. Every campaign starts with 18 teams making up Germany’s top league, with every side playing each other twice, both home and away. This means that each side will play a total of 34 games, with a total of 102 points on offer.
The table itself is determined by how many points each side accrues over the course of the season. A win will give a team three points, a draw is worth one point, and a loss is worth no points. Often, teams will finish on the same number of points on a certain weekend or at the end of the season, meaning the teams will have to be separated by their goal difference (goals scored-goals conceded).
At the end of the season, the side that has accumulated the most points over the course of the year will be crowned the Bundesliga champions. The winner of the Bundesliga, along with the second, third and fourth placed teams in the league will also qualify for a Champions League spot for the next campaign. Fifth in the league will qualify for the Europa League group-stage for the following year.
At the other end of the table, there are three relegation spots. This means that the teams sitting in the bottom three are at risk of losing their place come the end of the season. Once all 34 games have been played, the teams in 17th and 18th will automatically get relegated to the 2. Bundesliga (the second tier of German football). For the side in 16th, they must play the team in third from the 2. Bundesliga.
This comes in the form of a two-legged playoff, with the first game at the home stadium of the Bundesliga outfit, before the second leg played at the 2. Bundesliga home. The winner over two legs determines whether the Bundesliga side stays in the leg or if they are relegated, with the side from the lower tier taking their place.
Throughout the summer and then again in January, Bundesliga sides will be able to add more talent to their squads or plug holes that have appeared across the campaign. The teams can look to poach players from their fellow Bundesliga sides, or they can acquire talent from other footballing sides outside of Germany.
History of the Bundesliga
Established in 1963, the Bundesliga has been the pinnacle of German football for almost 60 years now. Run by the German Football League (DFL), the Bundesliga technically comprises of three leagues. These are the 1. Bundesliga (although the ‘1.’ is rarely said), along with the 2. Bundesliga and the 3. Liga. The second tier of German football has been around since 1974, and while the third tier of German football has been a professional league since 2008, it is not known as the 3. Bundesliga because it is run by the German Football Association (DFB).
At the time of writing, Gerd Muller remains the league’s all time highest scorer with 365 goals in 427 games. However, Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski is slowly closing that gap, with 247 goals in 327 matches. Some of the truly great players of the game have made the Bundesliga their home over the years with both offensive and defensive talent aplenty adorning Germany’s top league.
